Parex was founded in 1979 and up to 2001 was the Specialty Mortars division of French industrial Group Lafarge.

In the 1990’s, LANKO and DAVCO products are introduced in the Philippines by distributors – Dextra Phils., Wise, Romtech and VSL Phils.

Since 2001, Parex is a division of Materis, the construction chemical company founded when Lafarge divested its specialty materials arm.

With a primary focus on geographical development, both organically and through acquisitions, Parex has demonstrated strong growth while redefining its position in the global marketplace.

During this development period, Parex has successfully acquired and integrated more than twenty strong local brands, worldwide. In most cases the acquired businesses were family owned and we pride ourselves that the vast majority of the previous owners and managers have continued as colleagues within ParexGroup.

Parex Inc. officially started operations in the Philippines and established its project sales and marketing office in 2008, offering a wider range of products and services to its clients. Our liquid plant started operating a year after and, in 2011, our powder line operated as well.

As a result, the entrepreneurial and dynamic spirit derived from our heritage has provided a strong unity to our network and is a unique strength of our company.

Now with industrial facilities in 21 countries, our expanded playing field has greatly increased our opportunities to grow organically. Our primary development initiative is focussed on increasing market share through expanding geographically and entering new segments and channels in these countries where we are present.

As acquisition opportunities reappear, we will continue to exploit our fundamental expertise, stepping up our global expansion which remains an important component in our strategy.

Our challenge is to outperform the underlying market delivering annual growth rates over the average growth of the markets in which we operate. A key element to support this challenge will come from the continuing success of innovative new product sales, an area where Parex has demonstrated market leadership. In 2012 more than 20% of our sales will come from products that are less than 5 years old.

Innovative solutions include waterproofing sytems, tile laying and grouting suited for every type of tile and stone. In additional, as a result of solid research, Parex has formulated the environment friendly Davco Dustless Tile Adhesives for improved air quality and healthier working conditions.

Facade Protection and Aesthetics offers a full range of products for new construction or renovation, for facade decoration and protection, all adapted to suit the architectural styles and construction methods. These include Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS), Parex Select Finishes and Suzuka Facade Finishes.

First of all, we are fortunate to be in a young industry with still vast technological potential. Our underlying markets have many years of growth ahead, both in mature and developing economies, with the drive for energy conservation and the constant rise of construction standards

Parex has now strong bases in the high-growth emerging markets, who account for more than 45% of our sales (up from 13% in 2005), with leading positions in China, South-East Asia and South America.

We are now a recognized innovator in the industry. Parex was the first to introduce dustless dry mix technology in 2006 and has recently pioneered cement-free powder technology. Over recent years, we have significantly invested in external insulation façade systems – a segment driven by the intensifying dynamics of energy conservation, both in mature and emerging geographies. In the process, we have internationalized our façade business and broadened our offering of aesthetic finishing solutions. We have also added waterproofing to our global product offer, a key entry point to a number of emerging markets and an important complement to our ranges of tile setting products and technical mortars.

With industrial facilities in 21 countries (up from 13 in 2005), we have the right base to grow organically faster and more profitably than our competitors.

We are well organized to facilitate rapid transfers of know-how across the group in both marketing and R&D. We aim to develop close partnerships with our key suppliers, whilst optimizing our purchasing leverage. We multiply the interactions between our 9 country laboratories and our 2 group R&D centers in France and China. We also build three to four new plants each year around the world to extend our geographical coverage.

Our goal is to consistently grow faster than our underlying markets and to achieve more than 20 % of our sales from products that are less than 5 years old.
